During my visit, excluding the angle from which the drama was shot, the area was a mess of broken glass and torn wooden panels. The area was surprisingly hard to get to and had sustained considerable damage due to bad weather and typhoons. The first location is Mutabaru Observation Deck in Ogimi Village, where Daniel travels with his former nemesis, Chozen. Unfortunately, however, this time poor old “Tomi Village” was shot in a mall in Atlanta, Georgia.
MR MIYAGI HOUSE SERIES
The series has been a hit, and there was lots of media buzz about the shooting and on-set locations. Thankfully, when it came to seeing the locations for Cobra Kai, things were a bit easier. Sashiki Castle is hard to access except by car and is mostly ruins now, whereas Shuri, despite being easy to access, is currently being renovated following a fire that destroyed most of the main building.
MR MIYAGI HOUSE MOVIE
Although neither is as beautifully preserved as the movie would have you believe. You can actually visit the ruins of two of his castles: Sashiki Castle in the southeast and Shuri Castle in the center of the island. Nevertheless, history buffs know that Shou Hashi was a real ruler of Okinawa. I would have loved to see it in person, but it was a matte painting hung in a studio and wasn’t even a painting of a Japanese castle.

A good example is when the character Kumiko points out to Daniel the ruins of the castle of King Shou Hashi. Separating reality from fiction is difficult in a movie that uses real inspirations to create imagined places.

Avildsen, thought the real Okinawa was unattractive due to the island’s stormy weather. Unfortunately, the movie director, John G. The Okinawa locations shot for the sequel were a well-disguised Hawaii, mostly Oahu. It has since been demolished and currently is a vacant lot.The Karate Kid Part II is almost entirely based in Okinawa. The building that was used as the filming location for the tree store in The Karate Kid Part III was located at 130 East Avenue 50 in Los Angeles, California.Daniel went on to start selling cars and later opened up his own automotive group in 2002. In Cobra Kai, Daniel mentions that the store was a good idea but they had "some bad luck." Daniel also claimed that the Bonsai store was "a disaster" in the show's fourth season. Probably for financial reasons, the store eventually closed some time after the events of The Karate Kid Part III, likely only a few years later.

Miyagi and Daniel had to buy an entirely new inventory and fix up the store again. It is unclear whether or not Mike's vandalism had anything to do with the store's closing or not, though it definitely had a negative impact as Mr. The store was also completely vandalized and robbed by Mike and his goons, on orders from Terry Silver. Miyagi's true wild bonsai tree so they can sell it, an ordeal which very nearly resulted in the tree's destruction by Mike Barnes. Miyagi's beloved truck and Daniel attempted to dig up Mr. Miyagi had to struggle to keep the store afloat, including selling Mr. Miyagi's dream to open up a bonsai tree store, he secretly used his college funds to open the store.
